Jimbaran – Udayana University (Unud) held a ceremony for the taking of oaths/pledges by Civil Servants (PNS) and the inauguration of functional positions on Friday (August 21, 2026), at the Widya Sabha Auditorium on the Jimbaran Campus. This event marked a significant milestone in strengthening Udayana University’s human resources—fostering a workforce characterized by integrity and professionalism, capable of making tangible contributions to the institution, society, the nation, and the state.

Ni Made Pertami Susilawati, SE., MM, Head of the General Affairs Bureau at Unud, reported that 192 civil servants participated in the oath-taking process, comprising 165 lecturers and 27 educational staff members. In terms of gender, the participants included 111 women and 81 men. Meanwhile, 178 individuals were inaugurated into functional positions. The event served to formalize the employment status of Candidate Civil Servants from the 2024 fiscal year into full Civil Servants and to induct eligible Civil Servants into functional positions in accordance with their initial appointment decrees.

Udayana University Rector Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, ST., Ph.D., emphasized that the oath-taking is not merely a ceremony or a formality in a civil servant’s career path. The oath represents a solemn pledge carrying moral and ethical consequences, as well as responsibilities that must be reflected in how they work, make decisions, provide services, and fulfill every mandate entrusted to them.

For lecturers, service extends beyond the classroom. Lecturers bear the responsibility of advancing knowledge, producing academic work, and shaping a generation capable of addressing societal challenges. Meanwhile, educational staff play a crucial role in ensuring that all higher education processes run in an orderly and effective manner while delivering excellent service. The Rector emphasized that a functional position is not merely a change in nomenclature or a step up the career ladder; rather, it represents an expression of institutional trust that must be validated through competence, achievement, and tangible contributions.

In his remarks, the Rector also highlighted the importance of every Udayana University staff member making a meaningful impact through the execution of their duties and their service.
“I hope you do not stop at simply being employees who carry out tasks. Become members of the Udayana University community who understand the rationale behind every task, are capable of viewing issues from a broader perspective, and have the courage to implement improvements. We need staff who are disciplined, professional, ethical, collaborative, and courageous enough to offer solutions,” the Rector stated.

This message underscores that staff members are expected not only to fulfill their specific functions and responsibilities but also to recognize broader needs, drive improvements, and deliver beneficial solutions. It is hoped that this spirit will strengthen Udayana University’s role as an institution that continues to grow and generate real impact through education, research, community service, and public engagement.

The Rector expressed hope that the 192 civil servants taking their oaths would become a new driving force for Udayana University, bringing with them a commitment to diligent work, continuous learning, mutual respect, and excellence in their respective fields.

Through this civil servant oath-taking and functional appointment ceremony, Udayana University reaffirms its commitment to developing human resources that are not only professional and principled but also focused on making contributions and creating impact. Every mandate and position is intended to serve as an opportunity to innovate, provide solutions, and deliver tangible benefits to both Udayana University and the wider community.
