THE EFFECT OF VIUSID PET TO ACTIVITY AND CAPASITY OF MACROPHAGES IN MICE

Use of glycyrrhizic acid which is the active ingredient of Viusid Pet is commonly used to enhance the immune response. This study was conducted to determine the effect of Viusid Pet on macrophage activity and capacity. Thirty six of mice strain BALB / c were divided into 3 groups. The first control group (Group I) get distilled water, the second group (Group II) Viusid Pet get a dose of 0.1 ml, and the third group (Group III) Viusid Pet get a dose of 0,2 ml. Viusid Pet given from the first day until the seventh. On the eighth day, the mice were injected intraperitoneally each bacterium Staphylococcus aureus (SA). Activity and capacity of macrophage cell is calculated from the peritoneal fluid smears by counting the percentage of phagocytes are doing in 100 macrophage phagocytosis. Phagocytic capacity is set based on the number of Staphylococcus aureus fagocyted by 50 active phagocytic cells. Phagocytic activity increased with increasing dose of Viusid Pet. The highest of activity and capacity achieved by Viusid Pet dose of 0.2 ml (825,33±291,73). Whereas the activity of phagocytic capacity and the lowest was distilled water group (578,08±186,94) followed by a dose of 0.1 ml (654,83±266,09).
