The architectural design research project of Rumah Makan Khas Yogyakarta located in Jimbaran is conducted due to the vast potentials offered by Yogyakarta traditional cuisines and its possibilities for more development in Bali. There are a number of culinary centers in the island that attract tourists and visitors alike, whether the place specializes in Balinese cuisines, Indonesian cuisines, or even delicacies originated from other Asian countries. Despite being the second most popular tourism destination in Indonesia, the unique flavors of Yogyakarta has yet to become a popular choice in Bali. This is one of the driving factors in constructing more establishments that serves Yogyakarta traditional cuisines. This establishment is intended to bring the distinct atmosphere of Yogyakarta to life, starting from the exterior that applies the concept of Joglo house, the spatial layout, down to the interior design. In line with the development plans, Rumah Makan Khas Yogyakarta is set to provide supporting facilities such as live performances, aimed to introduce various forms of Yogyakarta traditional arts, such as ethnic dances and gamelan performances (a traditional Javanese percussion), as well as an area for exhibit to display other Yogyakarta trademark products such as wayang and batik.
