Riset Kesehatan Dasar ( RISKESDAS ) Indonesia noted in 2010, found that children in the age range of 6-12 years are obese as much as 9.2 % . An increment in the number of children who are obese are associated with decreased energy use ( energy expenditure ), it is associated with decreased physical activity children and than replaced with sedentary activity which one the example is the screen time . This study aims to determine whether there is a significant relationship between screen time with obesity among children, looking for a relationship between children's snacking habits when doing screen time, as well as the availability of a television in a child's room . The research method is a cross sectional analytic and the sampling methods is consecutive sampling . Samples were taken from three Junior High School in Denpasar . The results showed that there was statistically significant relationship between the level of activity in the screen time to the obesity in children P = 0,000 (<0.05) and the value of OR = 3,305 (95%CI :1,894 - 5,768), same with the level of screen time activity in the habit of snacking when the screen time found a statistically significant relationship that P - value = 0.001 ( <0.05 ) and the value of OR = 1.689 ( 95 % CI : 1.206 to 2.366 ) . In the research the availability of a television in a child's room with the obesity was not found a significant association with the result that the P - value = 0.070 ( > 0.05 ) and the value of OR = 1.378 ( 95 % CI : 0.952 to 1.993 ) . From this study it can be concluded that level activity of the screen time and snacking during the screen time is the risk factor of obesity in children, while the availability of a television in the room in this study did not find a statistically significant relationship .
