SALMONELLA SP PREVALENCE IN CILOK WHICH SOLD AT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AROUND DENPASAR.

Salmonella sp. is a rod-shaped gam negative bacteria. Salmonella sp. o:en found inprocessed meat products of poultry, eggs, and dairy meat. These bacteria generally invade the gastrointestinal tract. Salmonella sp. enter the human body through contaminated food which is notprocessed and served well. Salmonella sp. infection causing fever, pain and cramps in the stomach.Salmonella sp infection incident currently high around the world, in Indonesia the most prevalentcase of Salmonella sp. infections were among the age of children.The purpose of this study is to determine the prevalence of bacterial contamination ofSalmonella sp. in cilok which sold in elementary schools in Denpasar. In this study, cilok and itssauces as the samples will be inoculated on Salmonella Shigella Agar. In addition to the SalmonellaShigella Agar media, the colony which found will be re-analyzed with API 20EŽ. Inoculated sampleson Salmonella Shigella Agar media showed 2 colonies resembling Salmonella sp. from 46 samples.Both samples then tested with the API 20EŽ and found that the two colonies which suspected asSalmonella sp. is Proteus mirabilis, so it can be concluded that cilok which sold at an elementaryschool in Denpasar is not contaminated with Salmonella sp
