CHARACTERISTIC OF PHYSEAL FRACTURE IN CHILDREN AGED 0-14 YEARS IN SANGLAH GENERAL HOSPITAL CENTER DENPASAR 2013

The number of fractures involving the physis is not too high, but the physeal fracture mainly on the long bones can lead to disturbances in growth and development of the bone. Epidemiological data regarding the physeal fractures in children in Indonesia is still very minimal. This study is a descriptive observational study to determine the characteristic of physeal fracture in children aged 0-14 years in sanglah general hospital center Denpasar 2013. the data collected within Total sampling technique by using secondary data from medical record in Orthopaedics and Traumatology Departement of Sanglah Hospital and Emergency Room of Sanglah Hospital. From 23 samples of physeal fracture involving humerus, radius, ulna, metacarpal, femur, tibia, fibula, metatarsal and phalanges showed that majority of sex is a boy within 14 (69.0%). Physeal fractures on upper extremities (69.6%) more frequently compared to the lower extremities (30.4 %) on the. Distal radius (52.2%) was the most frequent site of the physeal fracture. Shalter Harris type 2 (69.6%) is the most common type of physeal fracture. The conclusions of this study showed that the physeal fracture majority is boys. The upper limb more frequently compared to the lower extremities. Distal radius is the most frequent site. Shalter Harris Type 2 is the most common type.
