ASSOCIATION STATUS BASED ON MALNUTRITION UNIVERSAL SCREENING TOOLS ( MUST ) AND GLYCEMIC CONTROL IN PATIENTS TYPE 2 DIABETES MELLITUS IN ENDOCRINE POLYCLINIC GENERAL SANGLAH HOSPITAL DENPASAR

Poor nutrition and inadequate will give bad consequences also in patients with type 2 diabetes. This research is conducted to determine the association of nutritional status based on Malnutrition Universal Screening Tools ( MUST ) and glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in Endocrine Polyclinic Sanglah Hospital . This study uses an observational study ( non-experimental ) with a cross - sectional analytical approach in which the implementation includes collecting data using MUST questionnaires and secondary data from medical records , data analysis , and interpretation of the data obtained . This research was conducted at the Endocrine Clinic Sanglah General Hospital . The research was conducted for less than one year , starting from February 2014 - October 2014 . From 97 samples are involved , it was obtained by the parameters of nutritional status Malnutrition Universal Screening Tool ( MUST ) in patients with type 2 diabetes in Sanglah hospital are most at low risk of malnutrition status . With details of 45 people ( 46.4 % ) with a low risk of malnutrition , 22 people ( 22.7 % ) with a moderate risk of malnutrition , and 30 persons ( 30.9 % ) high risk of malnutrition , which more respondents with higher levels of blood sugar uncontrolled ( 75.9 % ) . The results of this study with Chi Square test indicate that there is a association based on the MUST nutritional status with blood sugar 2 hours PP and HbA1c levels in patients with type 2 diabetes in Endocrine Polyclinic Sanglah General Hospital (p < 0,05), but there is no association based on the MUST nutritional status with fasting blood glucose levels ( p >0,05). It can be concluded that there is a significant association with blood sugar 2 hours PP and HbA1c levels but there is not a significant association with fasting blood glucose levels . The results of this study can be used by health practitioners in controlling patients with type 2 diabetes glycemic index.
