Daily Activity proboscis monkey (Nasalis larvatus) in Muara Kaman Sedulang Nature Reserve, East Kalimantan

Proboscis characterized by primates have a big and long nose is a species endemic in Borneo. Proboscis included in the protected animals with Appendik category I of CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna) and is considered endangered in the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources). Research on the proboscis monkey is still a lot to do, especially in terms of daily activities. This study uses Focal Animal Sampling with variable gender (male and female), age (juveniles and adults), and time (morning and afternoon). The results showed more adult female activity break (54.46%) than adult male (53.81%) and juvenile (47.00%). Feeding activity is dominated by the proboscis juvenile with a percentage of 38.40%. While proboscis adult male and adult female getting a smaller percentage, individually gained 30.71% and 25.30%. Percentage of activity migrating juvenile, adult male and adult female is not much different. Each earn a percentage 14.44%, 15.24% and 19.64%. In the mornings, proboscis monkeys were more likely to feeding activity (52.38%) and in the afternoon more activity break (69.31%). Results showed activity break is still dominating in his behavior. Activities tend to break a lot more done during the afternoon. When morning, proboscis monkeys more likely to make feeding activity.
