Power transformer is one component of the electric power system in Substation. One power distribution transmission interruption is short circuit. To maintain the continuity and reliability of the flow of electrical power to the consumer (load), REF relay (Restricted Earth Fault) is used as the safety equipment of single phase short circuit to ground is not until it flows into the neutral point of the transformer when the wire breaking NGR (Neutral Ground Resistor). Single phase short circuit to ground before breaking wire NGR (Neutral Ground Resistor) amounted to 288.675 Ampere, while the short circuit current NGR wire after rupture of 884.15 Ampere. The results of the analysis of the installation of the relay REF at 60 MVA transformer to short circuit the phase wire to the ground when she decided NGR has good protection capabilities based on current interruption simulation calculations earthing wire break NGR, with a short circuit current of 884.15 Ampere, the large current flowing in the relay REF amounted to 0.263 Ampere, whereas in setting the relay REF 0.233 Ampere, then certainly relay REF will work in advance than other relays such as, Relay SBEF (Stand by Earth Fault), OCR (Over Current Relay) and GFR (Ground Fault Relay), because working time relay REF is 0 seconds or without time delay.
