Representation of Catholic Religion Values in Two Hurt and Angel of Salvation Movie Clip

This research entitled “Representation of Catholic Religion Values in Two Hurt and Angel of Salvation Movie Clip”. This research aims to find out the meaning of signs in Two Hurt and Angel of Salvation’s movie clip and also how the concepts of Catholic religion values are represented in those movie clips. The method used for analyzing is descriptive analysis method. The theories used for analyzing are the semiotic theory by Barthes (1972) and representation theory by Hall (1997). Based on the analysis that has been done, there are five verbal signs and eleven nonverbal signs that related with Catholic religion values. The verbal signs are (1) uso, (2) unmei, (3) ayamachi, (4) kibou, dan (5) angel. The nonverbal signs are 1) Maria’s statue, (2) rosario, (3) crucifixion, (4) candle, (5) altar, (6) rosewindow, (7) kneeling down devotion act, (8) bowing head devotion act, (9) clenching hands devotion act, (10) rising hands devotion act, and (11) upturning head devotion act. There are also some concepts of Catholic religion values that appeared in those movie clips, such as truth, righteousness, holiness, faithfulness, excellency, and love.
