ABSTRACT Gamelan is a traditional Indonesian musical instrument, using bronze as the material to get a good sound quality. In the process of making gamelan still done very simple, which is based on human power, so that the product is easy to crack or mechanical properties of the metal will decline. Gamelan who has been through the production process when forging possess a brittle, often after extended use have cracks, eventually gamelan performed splicing by welding asitelin and do the process of heating up (post heating) at a temperature of 3000C, 4500C, 6000C and without post heating with media cooling water, air and a kitchen that continued testing of toughness (impact test). Results welding gamelan is done through the process of heating up (post heating) with cooling medium and tested the toughness obtained a value of 0,030 Nm / mm2 media water treatment heating temperature of 4500C and (without post-heating) has a test the toughness of the highest value 0,038 Nm / mm2, for toughness values as low as 0.014 Nm / mm2 media kitchen heating temperature 6000C.
