I Gusti Ngurah Nitya Santhiarsa, MT ABSTRACT Efforts are made to reduce drag is by manipulating the fluid flow,Manipulation of fluid flow can be done passively, among others, by adding a helical strake on the surface of the cylinder, adding a variation of the angle O-ring on the surface of the cylinder which aims to reduce the drag force.The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of variations in the semi-circle on the surface of the cylinder on the drag coefficient. This study was conducted in a wind tunnel consisting of a blower, Pitot pipe, manometer, digital scales, and cylinders,and ring visible semi-circle and variations in distance between the ring of 30mm, 40mm, 50mm, 60mm and 70mm. The Reynolds number, based on cylinder diameter (60mm) is Re = 3,64x.   The results showed that a decline in the coefficient of drag than without variation ring, Drag coeffisient lowest value obtained from the variation distance between 50mm ring with a value of 0.369, with reduced drag by 24.385% compared to the cylinder without a ring.
