Abstract Background: From epidemiological data, the incidence of hypertension is increasing as the age increases, which most of hypertension occurs in people above 60 years old. The blood pressure of people above 60 years old is usually equal or greater than 140/90 mmHg. In Abang I Public Health Centre, the incidence of hypertension is usually in people above 60 years old, but recently there’s increasing of trend that hypertension occurs in people between 30 – 60 years old. Based on that problem, a scientific research is needed to know the prevalence of hypertension in young adult age at the working region of Abang I Public Health Centre and it could be used as inputs in the preparation of programs and policies in the prevention and treatment of hypertension. Metode: The research was conducted in working region of Abang I Public Health Centre, Karangasem regency. Data was collected from January 27 to February 1, 2014. This research is descriptive quantitative research study to determine the prevalence of hypertension is based on the young adult age group. Result and recommendation: Based on the research that has been done can be drawn the conclusion that the prevalence of hypertension is 13.3% of the 45 samples. Researchers see a tendency toward an increase in blood pressure in the male gender, low education levels and lack of jobs.
