Jimbaran – Udayana University (Unud) held its 172nd Academic Graduation Ceremony on Saturday (November 1, 2025) at the Widya Sabha Auditorium, Jimbaran Campus. In this ceremony, Unud officially conferred degrees upon 703 graduates from various academic levels — Diploma, Bachelor, Professional, Specialist, Master’s, and Doctoral programs. With this, the total number of Udayana University alumni has now reached 133,557 since the institution’s establishment.

The ceremony was led directly by Rector of Udayana University, Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, S.T., Ph.D., and attended by the Chair of the University Senate, Vice Rectors, Deans, Director of the Postgraduate Program, Heads of Institutions and Bureaus, and the Dharma Wanita Persatuan of Udayana University.

In his report, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Ir. I Nengah Sujaya, M.Agr.Sc., Ph.D., stated that 196 graduates achieved the Cum Laude distinction. The overall average GPA across programs was notably high — 3.86 for Doctoral, 3.90 for Master’s, 3.75 for Specialist, 3.52 for Professional, 3.82 for Bachelor/Applied Bachelor, and 3.67 for Diploma programs. Among the total graduates, 53.20% were female, demonstrating both higher participation and better academic performance than their male counterparts. The average GPA for female graduates was 3.77, compared to 3.74 for males.

Prof. Sujaya also presented the results of the 2025 Tracer Study, which showed that out of 5,456 targeted alumni, 4,239 responded to the survey. Of these, 83.68% were employed, pursuing further studies, or engaged in entrepreneurship, while 16.32% were not yet employed.

In his address, Rector Prof. I Ketut Sudarsana expressed his pride and heartfelt congratulations to all graduates. He emphasized that graduation is not the end of the academic journey, but rather the beginning of new challenges in real life.

“The degree you have earned is not the end of everything, but the beginning of new responsibilities in life. You are the reflection of Udayana University in society, so uphold the good name of your alma mater by thinking, speaking, and acting with integrity,” said the Rector.

He also encouraged all alumni to actively participate in the Udayana University Alumni Association (IKAYANA) and contribute to the Tracer Study, which serves as an important tool for evaluating and improving the quality of education at Unud.

The Rector further extended his apologies to the families of graduates who could not enter the auditorium due to limited seating capacity and expressed appreciation to all lecturers, staff, and committee members for their hard work in making the graduation ceremony a success.

Representing the graduates, Ni Komang Deepa Shanti Dewi, S.M., a 2021 cohort graduate from the Bachelor of Management Study Program, expressed her gratitude and pride in representing her fellow graduates on this historic day. She also highlighted the challenges faced by young generations amid the increasingly competitive economic and professional landscape.

“With the growing complexity of employment issues, the road ahead won’t be easy. But taking small steps is never a failure. What matters is that we keep moving forward and find our way back — to family, friends, or anyone who gives us support,” she said.

Deepa also reminded her fellow graduates to uphold humanity and kindness wherever they go.

“Being kind doesn’t hurt — always be polite, uphold morality, and stay humane. If it hurts you, it can hurt others. But even if it doesn’t hurt you, it might still hurt someone else,” she stated.

She concluded her speech with gratitude toward her parents, family, lecturers, and her alma mater, Udayana University, for their guidance, dedication, and opportunities throughout her studies.

“Thank you to Udayana University for being the best home for us to learn and grow. May Unud continue to develop into an excellent educational institution that produces competent and high-integrity graduates,” she concluded.
