Towards Internationalization, FMIPA UNUD Explores Collaboration with Paleo-ecologists from Melbourne University

Monday, June 5 2023, related to the Internationalization of FMIPA UNUD, taking place at the Postgraduate Building of the FMIPA Unud Sudirman Campus, the Faculty of MIPA received the arrival of Prof. Michael-Shawn Fletcher of the University of Melbourne. Prof. Michael is an expert in the field of paleo-ecology, which is part of the field of biology that studies ecology in the past. This internationalization is one of the strategies carried out by FMIPA Unud to improve the quality of education and preparing the lecturers and students to face global competition.

 

Dean of MIPA Prof. dr. Ni Luh Watiniasih, M.Sc., Ph.D. along with eight Biology teaching staff consisting of Prof.Ir Ida Ayu Astarini M.Sc. PhD, Prof. Ir. Made Pharmawati M.Sc. PhD, Drs. Yan Ramona, M.App.Sc. PhD, Prof. A A. Darmi, Dr. I Ketut Ginantra, Dr. I Ketut Sudirga, Fainmarinat Inabuy, PhD, I Made Saka Wijaya, S.Si, MSc exploring joint research opportunities and capacity building (increasing the capacity of human resources) for both teaching staff and students.

 

During his visit Prof. Flecther explained the research activities that had been carried out and gave research ideas that could be carried out and developed in Bali.

 

Dean of FMIPA, Prof. Watiniasih welcomes this meeting and hopes that research collaboration and training can be realized soon, through the schemes offered by LPPM, as well as through funding from the Australian side.

 

After the meeting,   Prof. Fletcher also had the opportunity to give a guest lecture in the afternoon with the topic: "Uses and applications of lake sediment analysis". The guest lecture was attended by students of Masters in Biology and Masters of Environment along with teaching staff.
