Information Modeling Training Building Conducting Technical Training at Udayana University

To provide human resources who master digital technology for infrastructure development within the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, the Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University communicates with the Surabaya Regional IV Construction Services Center to carry out Building Information Modeling Training activities. The Building Information Modeling activity was carried out for 6 full days on 19-24 September 2022 at the Computing Laboratory of the Civil Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University, Bukit Jimbaran, Badung Bali.

The Building Information Modeling activity was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University, Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, ST, PhD who was accompanied by the Civil Engineering Koprodi Ir. Ida Ayu Made Budiwati, MSc, PhD, and also attended by representatives from the Surabaya Regional IV Construction Service Center. In his remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University conveyed the important role of Building Information Modeling training for graduates of the Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University who will enter the world of work where skills and knowledge in the field of Building Information Modeling are needed given the increasingly complex infrastructure development. Currently, infrastructure development requires more intensive work coordination between disciplines such as Architecture, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, as well as other engineering disciplines. With Mastery of Building Information Modeling, coordination will be easier while increasing work effectiveness and efficiency. In the training, the software used is Tekla Structure which is one of the software developed by PT. Indonesian Trimbel.

The choice of the Computing Lab of the Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University as a training venue is a continuation of the collaboration that has existed between Udayana University and PT Trimble Indonesia, where Udayana University is designated as the Authorized Training Center (ATC) for Tekla Structure. This training was attended by approximately 30 alumni of Udayana University with lecturers in the Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University. During this time, participants were given material in the form of knowledge and training in building modeling skills, both concrete and steel buildings, to the level of structural detail. In addition, the training is also filled with real experience of implementing Building Information Modeling on construction projects that have been implemented. On the last day, the trainees are tested and if they meet the minimum competency requirements, they will be given an official certificate of competence in the field of Building Information Modeling. In this Building Information Modeling training, participants are free of charge and costs are borne by the Surabaya Regional IV Construction Services Center which is covered by PT Trimble. It is hoped that Building Information Modeling will continue to be trained on an ongoing basis every year so that it is able to provide human resources that can be used and reliable in the field of Building Information Modeling. The next Batch 2 training is planned to be held at the end of 2022 with a target of 40 participants which will also be held at the Computing Lab, Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University.
