Udayana University Students Achieve Excellence at Peksimida, Two Unud Delegates Advance to Peksiminas 2026 at Jember University

Denpasar – Udayana University students participated in the Bali Province Regional Student Arts Week (Peksimida) held at the ISI Bali Campus on Saturday (June 6, 2026). In this event, Udayana University students won two gold medals: in the Men’s Vocal Group and Pop competitions, one silver medal in the Women’s Keroncong competition, and two bronze medals in the Women’s Seriosa and Playwriting competitions. The opening ceremony took place at the Kirtya Sabha Mahottama Building, Citta Kelangen Building, ISI Bali, and was also attended by the Vice Rector for Student Affairs of Udayana University. Peksimida is an event held in preparation for the participation of the Indonesian Student Arts Advisory Board (BPSMI) of the Bali Regional Board in the 18th National Student Arts Week (Peksiminas) 2026 in East Java from September 8-12, 2026. This year’s Peksimida Bali featured 15 competitions, with 176 participants. The competitions included Dangdut, Seriosa, Keroncong, Pop, Vocal Group, Poetry Reading, Monologue, Dance, Short Story Writing, Play Writing, Poetry Writing, Poster Design, Painting, Comic Strips, and Photography. Peksimida was opened by Prof. Dr. I Komang Sudirga, S.Sn., M.Hum., Chairman of BPSMI Bali, who is also the Vice Rector for Student Affairs at the Indonesian Institute of Arts (ISI) Bali.

In his remarks, the Head of LLDikti Region VIII, represented by the Head of General Affairs, I Nyoman Bagus Suweta Nugraha, stated that Peksimida is a strategic agenda for student development in higher education. It serves not only as an arts competition but also as a platform for developing students’ character, creativity, and identity as cultured intellectuals. This activity reflects the university’s commitment to building a holistic educational ecosystem, prioritizing the development of students’ holistic potential.

In his remarks, the Head of the Bali Provincial Cultural Office emphasized that this type of activity is not merely a competition or contest. It is not a contest of prestige to determine winners and losers. Rather, its primary purpose is to provide a platform for creativity and appreciation of arts and culture for students to express their artistic souls. This space for arts appreciation is crucial, and we must continue to facilitate it for our students as a platform for cultivating creativity, feeling, and will, refining their minds, rectifying their consciences, and strengthening their love for Balinese arts and culture. In addition to serving as a platform for arts appreciation, Peksimida also serves as a meeting place for creative dialogue between universities, while also fostering networks for future collaborations and collaborations.

This year, Udayana University sent 17 student representatives to compete in 10 categories: Vocal Group, Painting, Pop, Short Story Writing, Monologue, Poster Design, Play Writing, Poetry Reading, Seriosa, and Keroncong. Unud’s achievements in this Peksimida event included gold in the Men’s Vocal Group and Pop competitions, silver in the Women’s Keroncong competitions, bronze in the Women’s Seriosa and Play Writing competitions, first place in Poster Design, second place in Painting, and third place in Short Story Writing. With these achievements, Unud placed third overall in Peksimida Bali. Gold medalists from Unud in the Men’s Pop and Vocal Group competitions automatically advance to Peksiminas at the University of Jember, representing Bali Province.
Prof. Gusti Ngurah Alit Susanta Wirya, Vice Rector for Student Affairs at Unud, stated that prior to participating in Peksimida, a university-level selection process was conducted, prioritizing those with talent in the arts relevant to the competition. As a member of the Bali BPSMI, Udayana University strongly supports this biennial Peksiminas (National Student Examination) event. This event also fosters student talent, especially at Udayana University, where there is a wealth of talent to be developed. The achievements these students achieve will also support the university’s IKU (Information Technology Index), particularly the student achievement index.

“We hope students will be enthusiastic about competing, as the winners of Peksiminas will be sent to the national level in Jember in September and will be crowned champions,” said the Vice Rector.
