Jimbaran – Udayana University (Unud) held a joint prayer session to commemorate Saraswati Day at the Maha Widya Saraswati Temple, located on the Udayana University Jimbaran campus, on Saturday (October 31, 2026). The event was attended by the Rector, Vice Rectors, faculty and unit leaders, lecturers, staff, and students, with the prayer service led by a Jero Mangku.
This joint prayer serves as an expression of gratitude and devotion by the Hindu community to Ida Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa in the manifestation of Goddess Saraswati—the deity of knowledge, wisdom, arts, and literature. Saraswati Day is observed every 210 days, specifically on Saniscara Umanis of the Wuku Watugunung week, serving as a moment to honor knowledge, which acts as a guiding light for human life.

In Hindu mythology, Goddess Saraswati is the shakti of Lord Brahma and is depicted holding attributes such as a lontar, genitri, a vina, and a damaru. These attributes symbolize knowledge, diligence, the arts, and harmony in life. The commemoration serves as a reminder that knowledge should not merely be cultivated to enhance intelligence; it must also be balanced with wisdom, good character, and the practice of dharma values.
For Udayana University, Saraswati Day holds significant meaning in supporting the Tri Dharma of Higher Education: education, research, and community service. Knowledge is expected to shape exceptional, principled academic individuals who can make tangible contributions to society and the development of the nation.

Through this joint prayer, it is hoped that the entire academic community of Udayana University will be continuously blessed with knowledge and wisdom in carrying out their duties and responsibilities. The observance of the holy day of Saraswati also serves as a momentum to strengthen spiritual values, togetherness, and harmony, with the aim of fostering a better life, well-being, and peace.
