17th Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) Unud BK: Encouraged to Become a Leading Faculty and Center for Policy Innovation

The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of Udayana University celebrated its 17th BK on Monday (June 29, 2026) at the Sudirman Campus in Denpasar. The 17th BK celebration was attended by the entire FISIP academic community and Udayana University leadership. Also in attendance was the Rector of Udayana University for the 2009-2013 period and founder of FISIP, Prof. Dr. dr. I Made Bakta, Sp.PD (KHOM).

Vice Rector for General Affairs and Finance, Prof. Agoes Ganesha Rahyuda, S.E., M.T., Ph.D., representing the Rector of Udayana University, in his remarks explained that the FISIP BK has become a meeting place for lecturers, educational staff, students, and alumni in a collaborative atmosphere. According to him, this activity serves as social capital that is not only measured by academic indicators, but also serves as a crucial foundation for the institution’s progress.

Furthermore, the Vice Rector expressed his hope that FISIP would become a leading faculty in the future, providing solutions to various social issues faced by society, government, and the business world. FISIP is also expected to become a center for the birth of various innovations in public policy, strategic communication, governance, community empowerment, cultural diplomacy, digital transformation of the public sector, and social studies.

Meanwhile, FISIP Dean Prof. Dr. Drs. I Nengah Punia, M.Si., stated that FISIP’s 17th anniversary demonstrates organizational maturity and readiness to face global challenges. One of the key factors is having competent human resources, so his institution strives to continuously encourage lecturers to improve their academic competencies, be active in international research, and expand community service.

Furthermore, FISIP’s leadership aims to achieve superior accreditation and international recognition. According to the Dean, improving study program accreditation is necessary to reflect a culture of quality, transparency, and educational excellence. On this occasion, he invited the entire FISIP academic community to work together to advance the accreditation of study programs.

The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at Udayana University offers six study programs: undergraduate programs in Public Administration, undergraduate programs in International Relations, undergraduate programs in Communication Studies, undergraduate programs in Political Science, undergraduate programs in Sociology, and a diploma program in Library Science. FISIP has also opened two new study programs: undergraduate programs in Library and Information Science and master’s programs in Political Science. Both new study programs are currently accepting new students.
