Denpasar — The Postgraduate School of Udayana University (Unud) held the pinnacle of its 34th-anniversary celebration, which was integrated with the National Working Meeting of the Forum of Postgraduate Leaders (FORPIMPAS) from public universities (PTN) across Indonesia. The event took place in the Postgraduate Hall on the 3rd floor of the Sudirman Campus, Denpasar, on Monday, October 26, 2026.

The 34th-anniversary celebration was attended by university leadership and FORPIMPAS participants, including the Rector of Udayana University, Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, ST., Ph.D.; the Chair of the Udayana University Senate; the Vice Rector for Resources; the Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, and Commercialization; the Secretary of Udayana University; and various deans from across Udayana University.

Also in attendance were the Chair of FORPIMPAS BKS-PTN Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Richard Benny Luhulima, ST., MT; representatives from partner institutions (such as Bank BPD Bali, Bank BRI Kuta Branch, PT Baliyoni, Rotary International District 3420, the Bali Blue Harmony Foundation, Batur UNESCO Global Geopark, PT Sentrik Persada Nusantara, PKBM Homeschooling KITA, and CV Alam Raya); as well as guest speakers, media representatives, study program coordinators, quality assurance unit members, faculty, retired faculty, administrative staff, students, and alumni of the Postgraduate School. The 34th-anniversary celebration has featured a variety of activities aligned with the tridarma of higher education—education, research, and community service—including international community service initiatives, interdisciplinary international workshops, a fun walk, blood drives, free health check-ups, and the distribution of free eyeglasses.

In her opening remarks, the Chair of the Graduate School’s Anniversary Committee, Dr. Ni Luh Gde Ari Natalia Yudha, SKM, MPH, expressed her appreciation to all parties and sponsors who supported the realization of this event. He emphasized that this series of activities holds strategic significance for the institution. “These activities are not merely ceremonial; they are intended to strengthen professional ties, foster collaboration in the development of the ‘tridarma’ (the three pillars of higher education—education, research, and community service), and, naturally, align with the vision and mission of Udayana University,” he stated.

The Director of the Postgraduate Program at Udayana University, Prof. Ir. I Nyoman Suprapta Winaya, ST., MA.Sc., Ph.D., outlined the institution’s journey and rapid development—from its inception to achieving the status of a PTNBH—a state university with legal entity status. “We were established in 1992, but in 2018, we shifted our focus toward multidisciplinary and monodisciplinary programs. As of 2026, we now offer seven study programs,” he explained.

Meanwhile, the Chair of FORPIMPAS Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Richard Benny Luhulima, ST., MT., expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome extended by Udayana University as the host of this year’s working meeting. In his remarks, he highlighted the forum’s importance in addressing critical issues regarding postgraduate education management, particularly concerning the organization of teaching staff. “Our primary agenda for this working meeting is to deliberate and reach decisions—potentially including arranging for FORPIMPAS representatives to meet with the Minister to discuss the issue of ‘home bases’ (faculty affiliation/assignment),” he said.

The Rector of Udayana University, Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, ST., Ph.D., who officially opened the event, underscored the necessity of strengthening synergy and collaborative networks among higher education institutions in Indonesia to confront global challenges. He urged higher education institutions across the country to remain united, stating, “We must collaborate; this is the era of collaboration—moving forward together rather than competing against one another.” “Our competitors are not domestic universities—not universities within Indonesia—but rather universities abroad; those are our true rivals,” stated the rector.

The peak of the 34th-anniversary celebration of the Udayana University (Unud) Postgraduate School, held in conjunction with the FORPIMPAS working meeting, featured a tumpeng cutting ceremony, the signing of cooperation agreements, the presentation of mementos, and the awarding of honors to outstanding students, administrative staff, and faculty members, as well as the recognition of retiring faculty.
