Denpasar – The Internal Medicine Specialist Study Program at Udayana University is undergoing the accreditation process from the Independent Accreditation Institute for Higher Education in Health (LAM-PTKes). The opening of the accreditation field assessment was held on Thursday (May 21, 2026) in the AA Made Djelantik Meeting Room, Faculty of Medicine, Denpasar Campus. The field assessment lasted three days to assess the consistency of field data with submitted reports.

The assessors from LAM-PTKes who visited the Faculty of Medicine were Prof. Dr. Aida Lydia Sutranto, Sp.PD, K-GH, Ph.D., FINASIM; Dr. Dr. Sudirman Katu, Sp.PD., K-PTI, FINASIM; and Dr. Irza Wahid, Sp.PD, K-HOM, FINASIM. All three are from the University of Indonesia, Hasanuddin University, and Andalas University.

Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Prof. Dr. dr. I Gede Eka Wiratnaya, Sp.O.T., Subsp. Onk. Ort. R (K), explained that the Faculty of Medicine routinely conducts internal quality audits as an effort to build a culture of quality. The audit results are then evaluated and followed up to ensure compliance with established quality standards. The Dean also believes that the quality assurance process at the Faculty of Medicine is running smoothly. This is evident in the five-stage cycle of the Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI)—establishment, implementation, evaluation, control, and improvement (PPEPP),—which is gradually implemented at the study program, faculty, and university levels.

The Dean added that the Faculty of Medicine currently has 38 study programs: 6 undergraduate programs, 4 professional programs, 3 master’s programs, 1 doctoral program, 21 specialist programs, and 3 subspecialist programs. Of the 38 study programs, 28 have been accredited as superior, and 6 have been accredited as very good. This year, the Faculty of Medicine is also preparing to open three new study programs: a master’s, specialist, and subspecialist program.

Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Udayana University, Prof. Ir. I Nengah Sujaya, M.Agr.Sc., Ph.D., stated that accreditation is not merely a tool for monitoring and improving quality. It is more than just a commitment to producing graduates who meet the needs of healthcare services. He hopes that the input from assessors can be utilized by the study program for future quality improvement.

Assessor, Prof. Dr. Aida Lydia Sutranto, Sp.PD, K-GH, Ph.D., FINASIM, explained that accreditation aims to comprehensively evaluate the study program’s commitment to improving the quality and implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. Prior to today’s field assessment, her team conducted a sufficiency assessment to assess the performance document forms and self-evaluation forms.

Prof. Aida explained that this field assessment aimed to assess the completeness of the data on the forms and the situation on the ground. In addition, assessors will directly inspect the teaching and learning process and facilities on campus.

Also present at the opening of this field assessment were the Head of LP3M, the Head of LPPM, the Secretary of USDI, the Secretary of the Library Technical Implementation Unit, the Director of Udayana University Hospital, the President Director of Ngoerah Denpasar Hospital, the Chair of the Faculty of Medicine Senate, the Dean and other leadership of the Faculty of Medicine, and the Chair of the Faculty of Medicine’s Ikayana Commissariat.
