DENPASAR – Udayana University continues to strengthen its commitment as an Impact Campus by ensuring collaboration with local governments produces real benefits for the community. This commitment was realized through the signing of the Extension of the Joint Agreement (MoU) between Udayana University and the West Sumbawa Regency Government, Friday (14/8/2026), at the Udayana University Postgraduate Building, Denpasar.
This activity was attended by the Regent of West Sumbawa H. Amar Nurmansyah, S.T., M.Si., Director of Asy-Syifa Hospital, Head of the West Sumbawa Regency Health Service, officials from the West Sumbawa Regency Government, as well as the Chancellor of Udayana University along with the leadership including the Deputy Chancellor for Planning, Cooperation and Information, Deputy Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dean and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Unud.
This collaboration, which has been in place since 2016, is proof of the sustainability of the partnership between Udayana University and the West Sumbawa Regency Government in supporting regional development. The extension of the MoU also provides momentum to expand collaboration that previously took place in the health sector to various other strategic sectors.
Chancellor of Udayana University, Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, S.T., Ph.D., said that the extension of cooperation is not just a document update, but is a confirmation of commitment to continue collaboration which has provided benefits.
“We are not just signing a document, but affirming our commitment to continue and expand collaboration that has been proven to have a positive impact.”
One concrete form of collaboration that has been taking place is the assignment of senior resident doctors from the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University to the Asy-Syifa’ Regional Hospital, West Sumbawa. The presence of resident doctors not only supports improving the quality of public health services, but also becomes a learning space in providing comprehensive health services in the region.
In the future, collaboration will continue to be developed through the implementation of the Tridharma of Higher Education, including education, research and community service. Collaboration space also includes increasing the competency of ASN and human resources, opportunities for further study, joint research as a basis for evidence-based development policies, thematic KKN, as well as developing innovations in the health, agriculture, tourism, environment, creative economy and government governance sectors.
The Chancellor emphasized that universities must be present as development partners, not only through graduates and scientific publications, but also through science, technology and innovation that answer society’s problems.
“Our task is not only to produce graduates and scientific publications, but also to present science, technology and innovation that is able to answer society’s real needs.”
The Chancellor hopes that the extension of this collaboration will be the start of more joint programs that will provide real benefits for the people of West Sumbawa.
West Sumbawa Regent H. Amar Nurmansyah, S.T., M.Si., expressed his appreciation for the continuation of this collaboration. He hopes that collaboration with Udayana University will not only develop in the health sector, but can also be expanded to other sectors such as tourism and agriculture, in accordance with regional development potential and needs.
According to him, continued cooperation needs to be followed by results that can truly be felt by the community. Thus, the MoU does not stop as a cooperation document, but is translated into programs and activities that produce output and have a real impact on society.
This spirit is in line with Udayana University’s commitment to supporting sustainable development through strengthening collaboration between universities, government, the business world and society. Knowledge, research and innovation are expected to be part of the solution to various regional development needs.
Through the extension of this MoU, Udayana University and the West Sumbawa Regency Government are committed to strengthening cooperation that is measurable, sustainable and oriented towards community benefits. This collaboration is part of the effort to present an Impact Campus that is able to connect academic strengths with development needs and support the realization of sustainable development goals.
