JIMBARAN — In response to the long, persistent queues for fuel (BBM) caused by supply disruptions in Bali, Udayana University (Unud) has launched an on-the-ground relief initiative. A joint community service team—comprising 50 faculty members, students, and staff—has been deployed to reach out directly to the public and students affected by the lengthy queues in the vicinity of the Bukit Jimbaran campus.

This community service initiative is a collaborative effort involving three key units at Unud: the Directorate of Research and Community Service (DPPM), the Directorate of Student Affairs (which coordinates the student contingent), and the Janar Duta Medical Assistance Team (TBM) from the Faculty of Medicine.

The activities began on Thursday, October 15, and are scheduled to continue through Saturday, October 17. Given that wait times at gas stations can reach 2 to 4 hours, the Unud team is focusing on distributing bottled water and light snacks, while also providing medical personnel to assist drivers who may be suffering from physical exhaustion or dehydration under the scorching sun.

This humanitarian effort is being carried out at three key gas stations near the Bukit Jimbaran campus: the Unud gas station, the Jimbaran gas station, and the Taman Griya gas station.

The Director of Research and Community Service (DPPM) at Unud stated that the team’s presence in the field serves as a tactical response and a tangible expression of the university’s empathy toward those struggling to obtain fuel. “Today, the entire team—comprising 50 personnel, including both lecturers and students—has completed outreach efforts at the three designated gas station locations. The presence of a medical team and the provision of basic logistical support are intended to help maintain the well-being of residents and students while they wait,” he stated.

Udayana University (Unud) also reaffirmed its commitment to continue monitoring the situation on the ground. Should fuel supplies remain unstable and long queues persist beyond October 17, the Unud outreach team stands ready to return and provide further assistance.

The entire academic community of Udayana University urges the public to prioritize safety, order, and health while waiting in line, and expresses the hope that fuel distribution channels across Bali will soon return to normal and function smoothly once again.
