Denpasar — The Udayana University (Unud) Library has successfully held a training session on writing and publishing articles in reputable international journals (Scopus-indexed journals). The event, attended by early-career faculty members from across Udayana University, took place at the Dr. A.A. Made Djelantik Meeting Room, Faculty of Medicine, Sudirman Campus, Denpasar, on Monday, October 19, 2026.

The training was officially opened by the Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs at Udayana University, Prof. Ir. I Nengah Sujaya, M.Agr.Sc., Ph.D. In his remarks, he emphasized the importance of improving both the quality and quantity of scholarly publications by the Udayana University academic community to elevate the university’s global reputation—particularly in the context of international university rankings, such as the QS World University Rankings.

“Reputation is not something that emerges in a matter of minutes or hours. It is built over a long period and is rooted in one’s track record. Therefore, let each of us establish a clear track record; publications should be continuous and consistent within our respective fields of expertise,” said Prof. I Nengah Sujaya in his address to the participants.

He further noted that the primary challenge today lies not merely in selecting major publishers—such as Elsevier or Springer—but in maintaining scientific substance and research consistency that yields a broad impact on society.

The training featured expert speakers, including Johan Jang, Strategic Engagement Manager for Elsevier Southeast Asia, as well as Prof. Dr. I Gusti Ngurah Parikesit Widiatedja, S.H., M.Hum., LL.M.—a professor and lecturer at the Faculty of Law, Udayana University—led the session. Through presentations and interactive discussions, participants gained strategic insights on how to publish in highly reputable international journals, as well as how to manage and sustain their specific fields of academic study.

By hosting this training, the Udayana University Library (UPT Perpustakaan Unud) hopes to further motivate faculty members to produce scholarly work of global quality, while simultaneously strengthening Udayana University’s tangible contributions to the advancement of knowledge.
