Jimbaran – The Master’s (S2) Study Program in Animal Science at Udayana University (Unud) underwent a field assessment for accreditation by LAM-PTIP (Independent Accreditation Agency for Higher Education in Agriculture) on Friday (October 9, 2026), held at the Faculty of Animal Science, Unud, Jimbaran. This activity is part of efforts to enhance academic quality, strengthen research based on Bali’s local potential, and foster innovation in the livestock sector.

Unud’s Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Ir. I Nengah Sujaya, M.Agr.Sc., Ph.D., officially opened the event. In his remarks, Prof. Sujaya emphasized the importance of developing research that delivers tangible benefits to the community by utilizing Bali’s superior local commodities, such as Bali cattle, Gembrong goats, Bali pigs, and Bali ducks.
“Academic development at the Unud Faculty of Animal Science is already very robust, with educational levels ranging from Bachelor’s (S1) to Master’s (S2) and Doctoral (S3) programs—all of which have achieved ‘Superior’ (Unggul) accreditation. We hope that research from this master’s program can be translated into practical applications to support Bali’s tourism sector—ranging from the development of food products based on local commodities to goat milk-based spa products—while simultaneously strengthening food security,” said Prof. Sujaya.

Prof. Sujaya added that Unud continues to encourage the development of fast-track education programs from the undergraduate to the master’s level as part of efforts to prepare young researchers capable of producing innovative and sustainable research.

The field assessment was conducted by a LAM-PTIP assessor team comprising Prof. Dr. Ir. Ismoyowati, M.P., IPU., ASEAN Eng., from Jenderal Soedirman University, and Prof. Muhammad Ali, S.Pt., M.Si., Ph.D., from the University of Mataram. This activity aims to verify and clarify the Self-Evaluation Report (LED) and the Study Program Performance Report (LKPS) as part of the study program quality assessment process.

In her remarks, Prof. Ismoyowati commended the academic development at the Faculty of Animal Science, Udayana University (Unud), and emphasized the importance of collaboration in enhancing the quality of education.
“This field assessment serves as an opportunity to collaborate and share experiences in improving the quality of governance and curriculum. The livestock sector plays a vital role in supporting food security and poverty alleviation, which are also integral to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” stated Prof. Ismoyowati.
The event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Animal Science Unud, Dr. Ir. Dewi Ayu Warmadewi, S.Pt., M.Si., IPM., ASEAN Eng.; vice deans; the Head of LP3M Unud; representatives from the Bali Province Agriculture and Food Security Agency; industry partner PT Charoen Pokphand Bali; representatives from livestock farmer associations; alumni; and the academic community of the Faculty of Animal Science Unud.
