JIMBARAN – Udayana University (Unud) hosted a working visit by Dr. Shri I Gusti Ngurah Arya Wedakarna M WS III (AWK), a member of Committee I and the Public Accountability Body (BAP) of the Regional Representative Council of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI) representing Bali Province, on Wednesday (September 23, 2026). The visit, which took place at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) and the Faculty of Marine Science and Fisheries (FKP) at the Jimbaran Campus, focused on discussions regarding infrastructure development and the enhancement of educational quality at Unud.
This working visit served as an opportunity for engagement and dialogue between DPD RI and Unud, allowing for the gathering of input and a firsthand assessment of the condition and needs of educational facilities on campus. The delegation was welcomed by Unud’s leadership team, including the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs (Vice Rector I), the Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, and Information (Vice Rector IV), as well as the Deans of FMIPA and FKP and their respective staff.
During the visit, AWK stated that the trip was part of an effort to address feedback and support Unud’s development. He emphasized that strengthening infrastructure is a crucial aspect of supporting a high-quality higher education process.
“I visited the campus today with my team because there were concerns raised. To the students in particular: rest assured that we at DPD RI, as partners of the government, will assist Udayana in becoming even better,” said AWK.
He highlighted three key areas of focus: strengthening infrastructure across all study programs and faculties, enhancing Unud’s quality and reputation, and supporting the university’s campus development budget needs. In his capacity within the DPD RI’s Public Accountability Body (BAP), AWK also outlined plans to advocate for recommendations to relevant ministries, ensuring that Unud’s development needs are prioritized in the budget planning for 2027 and subsequent years.
In response, Unud’s leadership expressed their appreciation for DPD RI’s attention to the development of higher education in Bali, particularly regarding Udayana University. Support and synergy with state institutions are considered vital to strengthening Unud’s efforts to provide an academic environment that is safe, comfortable, and conducive to the learning process.
Currently, Unud continues to organize and develop its infrastructure to support academic activities. Facility development is being carried out in stages, taking into account learning needs, safety, efficiency, and the university’s financial capacity.
A number of facilities have been developed to support modern learning, including the use of an integrated lecture building. Meanwhile, the renovation of older buildings is also proceeding in phases to ensure that the facilities used by the academic community meet safety and comfort standards.
In addition to developing academic facilities, Unud continues to reinforce its sustainable campus concept by maintaining green open spaces and forested areas featuring native Balinese vegetation. Campus landscaping efforts are also aimed at strengthening Unud’s identity and academic environment.
Through this working visit, Udayana University and the Regional Representative Council (DPD RI) are advocating for stronger coordination in communicating educational infrastructure needs to the central government. This synergy is expected to facilitate the creation of superior higher education facilities and support the enhancement of learning quality at Unud.
