SOUTH KUTA — The Student Representative Council (DPM) of Udayana University successfully held a public discussion titled “Angkringan Berdialog 2026” at Warung Semar Bejo, South Kuta, on Friday, September 25, 2026. This forum was organized to establish a two-way communication channel between students and the university’s leadership (Rectorate) using a relaxed, off-campus setting; the aim was to ensure that the voicing of aspirations and criticisms, as well as the dissemination of information regarding the university’s transition to PTN-BH (State University with Legal Entity status), could take place in a more open and solution-oriented manner.

The event was attended by university leaders and student organization representatives, including the Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Gusti Ngurah Alit Susanta Wirya, S.P., M.Agr; the Head of the Udayana University PTN-BH Task Force, Prof. Dr. Ir. I Nyoman Semadi Antara, M.P., Ph.D; the Acting Head of the Student Affairs Bureau, Dr. Drs. I Wayan Santiyasa, M.Si; as well as representatives from the DPM, Student Executive Board (BEM), Student Activity Units (UKM), the student press, and student organizations from all 13 faculties at Udayana University.
In his opening remarks, the Chairperson of DPM PM Unud, I Kadek Ricky Wierdha Prayoga, explained that this year’s event concept differed from those of previous years. The choice of an off-campus venue—specifically Warung Semar Bejo, a spot long known as a gathering place for student discussions—was intended to foster a dialogue that was more fluid, uninhibited, and free from the constraints of formality. “We organized this ‘Angkringan Berdialog’ (Casual Dialogue) event as a shared space for everyone—from students to the university leadership—to engage in two-way discussion. Students can respectfully voice their aspirations, grievances, and constructive criticism, while university leaders can provide explanations and updates on the current state of the campus, particularly regarding Unud’s transition to PTN-BH status,” said Ricky.

Responding to the initiative, the Vice Rector for Student Affairs at Udayana University, Prof. Dr. Gusti Ngurah Alit Susanta Wirya, S.P., M.Agr., expressed his deep appreciation for the event. The university leadership considers this relaxed and open approach highly effective for gathering student input on matters ranging from campus facilities and accessibility to other student-related issues.
“The existence of such a forum demonstrates that campus life is built not only through academic activities but also through communication, collaboration, and the active involvement of the entire academic community. Student aspirations are a vital part of the campus evaluation and improvement process. I encourage all students not to hesitate in sharing their views, while always upholding ethical standards and a constructive spirit,” said Prof. Alit.

The university leadership also hopes that DPM PM Unud will continue to serve as a bridge, effectively connecting student aspirations with the university administration in a healthy and solution-oriented manner. Through this dialogue, it is hoped that differing perspectives can be clarified and that tangible ideas and solutions will emerge to advance Udayana University, making it an excellent and competitive institution.
