Udayana University Rector Meets with Indonesian Minister of Health to Discuss Strengthening Services and Governance at Udayana University Hospital

Jakarta – In an effort to improve governance and healthcare services at Udayana University Hospital (RS Unud), the Rector of Udayana University, Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, ST., Ph.D., accompanied by the Director of Unud Hospital and the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, held an audience with the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, at the Ministry of Health Office in Jakarta on Tuesday (June 2, 2026).

The Udayana University delegation was received by the Minister of Health, along with the Director General of Human Resources for Health, the Secretary of the Directorate General of Health Services, and other Ministry of Health officials.

During the meeting, the Rector of Udayana University stated that Unud Hospital, as a healthcare facility located in the South Badung region, plays a strategic role in supporting the healthcare ecosystem in Bali and nationally.

In line with its ongoing development efforts, Unud Hospital requires support from the Ministry of Health, particularly regarding medical equipment grants to strengthen its cardiac catheterization (catlab) services and foster hospital governance.

Furthermore, this audience also served as a follow-up to Unud Hospital’s proposed Foreign Loans and Grants (PHLN) to support the development of integrated cardiac services through the Indonesian Ministry of Health.

On the same occasion, the Director of Unud Hospital outlined the hospital’s existing condition, various achievements, and plans for future service development. His presentation also addressed the need for new medical equipment, improvements to supporting facilities, and opportunities for grants through the PHLN scheme.

The Indonesian Minister of Health welcomed the visit of the Udayana University delegation and commended Unud’s commitment to supporting government programs to improve the quality of healthcare services while accelerating the development of human resources for healthcare in Indonesia.

In his directive, the Minister of Health encouraged Unud Hospital to become a hospital under the auspices of the Ministry of Health, so that support for strengthening governance and developing facilities and equipment can be more optimally implemented. However, the PHLN proposal submitted by Unud Hospital cannot be accommodated at this time, as the Ministry of Health’s PHLN proposal list has been included in the Bappenas Green Book.

Furthermore, the Minister of Health also appreciated the information provided by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Prof. I Gede Eka Wiratnaya, regarding the progress of the Specialist Doctor Education Program (PPDS) mentorship program at the Main Organizing Higher Education Hospital (RSPPU) run by Udayana University.

As a follow-up to the results of the hearing, the Director of Unud Hospital, Prof. Dr. dr. A. A. Wiradewi Lestari, Sp.PK, Subsp. BDKT(K), Subsp. KV(K), along with the Unud Hospital staff, will conduct technical coordination with the Indonesian Ministry of Health to follow up on the various directives and collaboration opportunities discussed during the meeting.
