Jimbaran – Udayana University (Unud) kicked off its 64th Anniversary celebrations with a Matur Piuning ceremony and communal prayers at the Widya Maha Saraswati Temple on the Jimbaran campus on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. The event, which coincided with the Rahina Purnama (full moon) celebration, was led by the Rector of Udayana University, Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, S.T., Ph.D., and attended by the Chair of the Senate, Vice Rectors, Deans, Directors of Postgraduate Studies, Heads of Institutions, Heads of Bureaus, heads of work units, the Anniversary committee, and student representatives.

The Matur Piuning (prayer offering) is a tradition consistently performed by Udayana University before major events. It expresses gratitude (nunas ica) and seeks guidance and safety from Ida Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa, whose residences are the Widya Maha Saraswati Temple, the Dalem Balembong Temple, and the Widya Maha Amrta Temple on the Denpasar Campus. Through this prayer, the entire academic community prays that the 64th Anniversary celebrations will run smoothly, harmoniously, and successfully (labda karya, sida-sidaning don), benefiting the institution and the community.
The Rector of Udayana University, Prof. I Ketut Sudarsana, stated that the Anniversary is not merely a ceremonial event, but rather a moment for the entire academic community to reflect on the institution’s journey and strengthen the spirit of togetherness.

“The Anniversary is a reminder for all of us as the academic community of Udayana University to reflect on the journey of our beloved institution. We need to review what we have done, what contributions we have made, and what changes we have created for the advancement of Udayana University,” said the Rector.
The Rector emphasized that the Anniversary commemoration is not solely the responsibility of the committee and university leadership, but belongs to the entire Udayana University family. Therefore, the entire academic community is expected to actively participate in ensuring the success of each series of activities.
Furthermore, the Rector also reminded the entire committee to maintain patience, calm, and a spirit of togetherness in navigating the various dynamics during the preparation process.
“I always believe that by thinking together, we will find better solutions than if we try to solve them alone. Let us support each other and overcome every challenge through good communication,” he added.

The Rector hopes that the 64th Anniversary celebration will serve as a momentum to further strengthen the spirit of creativity and innovation as we approach the 65th Lustrum of Udayana University next year.
Previously, Secretary II of the 64th Anniversary Committee, Ir. I Gusti Agung Gede Arya Kadyanan, S.Kom., M.Kom., delivered a progress report on preparations for the anniversary. He explained that the committee had begun work since its inaugural meeting on June 5, 2026, under the direction of the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs.
