Jimbaran — Udayana University (Unud) continues to strengthen its role as an “Impactful Campus” by creating learning environments that bridge the gap between academia and the needs of industry and national development. This commitment was demonstrated by Unud hosting a public lecture organized by the Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas)—specifically the Java, Bali, and Nusa Tenggara (Jabanusa) Regional Office. The lecture, titled “Building Future Human Resources and Understanding the Upstream Oil and Gas Sector to Safeguard National Energy Security,” took place at the Widyasabha Auditorium on Unud’s Jimbaran Campus on Thursday (September 3, 2026).
The event brought together representatives from SKK Migas and Cooperation Contract Contractors (KKKS) operating in the Jabanusa region with the Udayana University academic community, particularly students. The public lecture provided a platform for students to gain direct insights into the dynamics of the upstream oil and gas industry, technological advancements, required competencies, career opportunities, and the role of the younger generation in supporting national energy security.
Anggono Mahendrawan, Head of the SKK Migas Jabanusa Regional Office, expressed his appreciation to Udayana University for hosting the event. He noted that the public lecture had three primary missions: providing an understanding of the upstream oil and gas business, fostering dialogue between industry practitioners and academics, and encouraging students to act as ambassadors in safeguarding national energy security.
Meanwhile, the Rector of Udayana University, Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, S.T., Ph.D., emphasized the importance of the connection between higher education institutions and strategic industries, including the energy sector.
“Universities have a responsibility to produce graduates who are adaptive and innovative. Synergies like this are essential for strengthening a higher education ecosystem that remains relevant to national development,” stated Prof. I Ketut Sudarsana. The involvement of industry practitioners in the learning process offers students the opportunity to bridge academic knowledge with the demands of the professional world. This simultaneously reinforces the implementation of the “Impactful Campus” (*Kampus Berdampak*) initiative, wherein higher education institutions do not merely produce graduates but actively cultivate talent ready to address development challenges and needs.
The public lecture featured speakers from both the practitioner and academic communities. In the first session, Ronnie Kurniawan presented on Operational Excellence, field-based technology application, career profiles, and the challenges facing the modern upstream oil and gas industry. Subsequently, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ketut Buda Artana, S.T., M.Sc., discussed the importance of integrating academic and industry ecosystems—particularly regarding technological innovation, workplace safety, and human resource readiness for future industry demands. The session concluded with an interactive discussion with students regarding developments in the upstream oil and gas sector, as well as opportunities for competency and career development.
In the second session, I Gusti Ngurah Agung Aditya Pramana, S.M., M.M., presented a topic titled “Bridging the Upstream Oil and Gas Information Gap: The Role of Gen Z and Content Creators in Communicating Upstream Issues.”
The presentation highlighted the strategic position of Generation Z and content creators in conveying energy sector information in a manner that is creative, objective, and accessible to the public. This role is increasingly vital amidst the rapid flow of digital information, serving to build public literacy regarding energy and national energy security.
Through this event, Udayana University strengthens its contribution as an “Impactful Campus” by bringing together education, industry, talent development, and development needs. The synergy with SKK Migas Jabanusa is expected to continue growing, fostering human resource competency, innovation, and partnerships that support national energy security and sustainable development.
