Denpasar – The Open Doctoral Promotion Session for the Doctoral Program in Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, for Dr. Bagus Padma Puspita, Sp.PD., M.ARS., FINASIM, took place in the A.A. Djelantik Room, 4th Floor of the Faculty of Medicine Building, Udayana University, Denpasar Campus, on Friday (July 17, 2026).
The open session was also attended by several officials and important figures, including the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, Deputy Head II of the State-Owned Enterprises Regulatory Agency, the Governor and Deputy Governor of Bali, the Director General of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices, the Regent and Deputy Regent of Badung, the Rector of Udayana University, Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, S.T., Ph.D., as well as university leaders, academics, and other invited guests.
Doctoral promotion is the highest stage of academic evaluation in doctoral education. It is carried out after the candidate has passed all previous examinations, including course assessments, qualification exams, proposal exams, feasibility seminars, and closed examinations. The open defense provides an opportunity for the candidate to present their research findings scientifically to the promoter team, examiners, and the academic community.
During this opportunity, Dr. Bagus Padma Puspita defended his dissertation, entitled “Development of the Health Office Management Information System (SIM-DINKES) in Supporting the Digital Transformation of Public Health Services in Badung Regency, Bali Province.” This research highlights the importance of developing an integrated management information system as an effort to strengthen digital transformation in the delivery of public health services, particularly within the local government.
The doctoral defense consists of three main stages: the presentation of the dissertation results by the candidate, a question-and-answer session with the reviewers, and a discussion session with the attending academics. These stages serve as a scientific forum to assess the quality of the research and provide a space for academics to provide constructive criticism, suggestions, and input on the presented research findings.
Based on an assessment of academic achievement throughout the study period, consistency in research, exam results at each stage, the candidate’s ability to defend the dissertation, and the duration of the study, the graduation committee decided to accept the dissertation and declared the candidate to have passed.
With this success, Dr. Bagus Padma Puspita, Sp.PD., M.ARS., FINASIM officially holds the degree of Doctor of Biomedical Sciences. This achievement also marks him as the 500th doctor to graduate from the Doctoral Program in Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, with a distinction of “Very Satisfactory.”
Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin expressed his hope that the research findings would not remain merely academic work but could be applied to improve the quality of public health services. Meanwhile, Governor Wayan Koster provided several inputs regarding the research findings presented by the candidate. A doctoral dissertation must present scientific findings that provide added value to the development of science and the practice of public service.
