SUMITA VILLAGE DEVELOPMENT GROUP, FH UNUD BUILDS COMMUNITY COMMITMENT THROUGH INTEGRATED WASTE MANAGEMENT SOCIALIZATION

The Sumita Village Development Group, Faculty of Law, Udayana University, held a Socialization of Integrated Waste Management for Sumita Village on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at the Wantilan Pura Manik Corong, Sumita Village, Gianyar District, Gianyar Regency. The event, themed “Integrated Waste Management Education: Understand the Types, Solve the Problems, Experience the Benefits,” aimed to increase community knowledge, awareness, and participation in realizing effective, sustainable, and environmentally friendly waste management.

The event was attended by the Sumita Village Secretary, the Mulung Traditional Village Head, Hamlet Heads, Family Welfare Movement (PKK) members from Sumita Village, the Head of the STT (Student’s College) in Sumita Village, and was accompanied by the Sumita Village Development Group’s Field Supervisor. The socialization was conducted through presentations by competent environmental speakers, namely I Wayan Subawa, S.TP., M.P. (Junior Expert for Environmental Impact Management, Gianyar Regency Environmental Agency) and Ni Ketut Sri Umayanti, S.E. (Team Member/Environmental Practitioner/Head of the Pejeng Village Waste Management Unit (KPP TPS3R). This was followed by an interactive discussion and question-and-answer session regarding waste types, waste management issues, and the benefits of implementing an integrated waste management system in daily life.

This activity is a continuation of the Sumita Village Government’s waste management development program, initiated by the Sumita Village Development Group, Faculty of Law, Udayana University, in collaboration with the Gianyar Regency Environmental Agency. This activity is expected to have a direct impact on the Sumita Village community’s commitment to integrated waste management based on local wisdom, as stipulated in Gianyar Regency Regulation Number 1 of 2026 concerning Waste Management Implementation.
