Gianyar – The 2026 Melinggih Village Development Program, Faculty of Law, Udayana University, officially concluded with an Appreciation and Closing Night, the culmination of a series of community service activities. Embracing the Impactful Campus spirit, the program successfully delivered tangible results through legal protection of the cultural heritage and local potential of the Melinggih Village community.
One of the key achievements was the presentation of four Communal Intellectual Property (KIK) certificates to the Melinggih Village community. These four certificates cover the Ngebek Tradition of Pura Agung Payangan as a Traditional Cultural Expression (EBT), the Nebog Tradition of Pura Puseh Payangan as a Traditional Cultural Expression (EBT), and the Jaja Pasung Payangan Gianyar, which received registration as Traditional Knowledge (PT) and an Indication of Origin (IA).
This achievement marks a significant milestone because Jaja Pasung Payangan Gianyar is the first Indication of Origin in Bali Province to receive protection as Communal Intellectual Property. This achievement not only strengthens the protection of local cultural heritage but also opens up opportunities to increase the economic value and competitiveness of regional specialty products through legal recognition.
Furthermore, the 2026 Melinggih Village Development Program also presented 21 Personal Copyright certificates, consisting of nine karawitan artworks, seven musical artworks, one motif artwork, and four dance artworks originating from five traditional villages in Melinggih Village. On the same occasion, a symbolic presentation of five brand certificates was also held, covering four personal brands: Balikok, Sajak Cerita, Cupak Grantang, and Babi Guling Pak Jabir, as well as one collective brand, the Merah Putih Village Cooperative of Melinggih Village.
This success demonstrates Udayana University’s role through the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly community service, in providing solutions that directly impact the community. The mentoring program focused not only on academic aspects but also produced concrete outcomes in the form of intellectual property protection that enhanced cultural, economic, and local identity values.
The closing ceremony was attended by the Head of the Regional Research and Innovation Agency representing the Regent of Gianyar; the Head of the Gianyar Regency Cultural Office; representatives of the Regional Research and Innovation Agency; the Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Law at Udayana University representing the Dean of the Faculty of Law at Udayana University; the Field Supervisor of the Melinggih Village Development Program; the Head of Melinggih Village; and various stakeholders who have supported the program’s implementation.
Through the 2026 Melinggih Village Development Program, Udayana University affirms its commitment to being an Impactful Campus that not only generates innovation in the academic environment but also delivers tangible benefits to the community. These achievements are expected to serve as a foundation for the continued preservation of culture, strengthening intellectual property protection, and developing the economic potential of the Melinggih Village community towards a competitive and sustainable village.
