JIMBARAN – In an effort to continuously strengthen the culture of quality and patient safety, Udayana University Hospital (RS Unud) has officially commenced the re-accreditation survey process conducted by the Hospital Accreditation Commission (KARS), starting on Monday, September 21, 2026. The activity spans three days, beginning with an online assessment on September 21, 2026, followed by an on-site verification (offline) on September 23–24, 2026.
The opening ceremony was attended in person by the Rector of Udayana University, Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, S.T., Ph.D.; the President Director of RS Unud, Prof. Dr. dr. Anak Agung Wiradewi Lestari, S.Ked., Sp.PK(K); the Vice Rectors; the Dean of the Udayana Faculty of Medicine; and the Supervisory Board. Also present to reinforce stakeholder synergy were representatives from the Bali Provincial Health Office, Badung Regency Health Office, Prof. Ngoerah General Hospital, and BPJS Kesehatan (Social Security Agency on Health) Denpasar Branch.
In his remarks, Udayana University Rector Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, S.T., Ph.D., emphasized that accreditation is not merely an administrative requirement but a primary driver for the transformation of healthcare services within the university environment.
“As a teaching hospital, the quality of RS Unud’s services is directly proportional to the quality of the healthcare professionals we produce. Implementing the 2024 Hospital Accreditation Standards (STARKES)—such as strengthening medical record digitalization, integrating risk management, and ensuring patient safety—is part of our tangible commitment. This also aligns with Udayana University’s transformation into a State University with Legal Entity status (PTN-BH), aiming to establish governance that is transparent, accountable, and delivers real impact to the community,” asserted Prof. Sudarsana. Meanwhile, the President Director of Unud Hospital, Prof. Dr. dr. Anak Agung Wiradewi Lestari, S.Ked., Sp.PK(K), stated that this second re-accreditation serves as a crucial moment to align clinical services with the “Tridharma” (Three Pillars) of Higher Education.
“Our goal is to establish Unud Hospital as a Primary Teaching Hospital for undergraduate and health professional education programs. Under the guidance of the KARS surveyor team, the entire hospital community is fully committed to maintaining the ‘Paripurna’ (Comprehensive/Gold Standard) accreditation status for the sake of patient comfort and safety,” said Prof. Wiradewi.
The KARS surveyor team conducting this assessment was led by dr. Ni Wayan Milawati, M.Kes. (Management Surveyor), alongside team members dr. Gede Alit Wardana, Sp.OG., Subsp. Obginsos., MARS (Care Surveyor) and Ns. Anak Agung Sri Agung Adilatri, S.Kep., M.M. (Care Surveyor). The team leader emphasized that the survey process aims to objectively and independently capture actual implementation in the field, in accordance with the KARS code of ethics.
Through this re-accreditation process, Unud Hospital is committed to ensuring that all quality and safety standards are not merely documented on paper but are truly integrated into every medical service process provided to the general public.
