YOGYAKARTA — The Rector of Udayana University (Unud) attended Phase II of the 2026 Higher Education Leadership Academy (AKPT), held on Wednesday and Thursday (September 23–24, 2026) at the Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) Headquarters in Yogyakarta. Organized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek), the event embodied the spirit of “Higher Education with Impact” (*Dikti Berdampak*) and was attended by leaders from 34 higher education institutions across Indonesia.

Previously, the Unud Rector had participated in Phase I of the AKPT online due to the eruption of Mount Krakatoa. The AKPT program is designed to span five workshops, with the next sessions scheduled to take place at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) and the University of Indonesia (UI) in the coming months.

The event series began with welcoming remarks from the UGM Rector as the host, followed by the official opening by the Secretary-General of Kemdiktisaintek, Badri Munir Sukoco. The program continued with a public lecture by the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd., moderated by the Director of Resources at the Directorate General of Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Ir. Sri Suning Kusumawardani. In a presentation titled “Strategy Execution, Change Management, and Organizational Transformation,” the Deputy Minister emphasized the importance of effectively implementing the ministry’s strategic policies at the higher education institutional level.

All workshop participants were subsequently divided into two groups: the “Leaders Class” for top leaders/Rectors and the “Future Leaders Class” for prospective higher education leaders. The Unud Rector actively participated in the entire series of sessions within the Leaders Class.

On the first day of the Leaders Class, the session was led by Prof. Ir. Panut Mulyono, M.Eng., D.Eng. …regarding the translation of strategic planning into impactful higher education transformation, as well as the Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Gombong (UNIMUGO), Prof. Dr. Sofyan Anif, M.Si., who moderated a discussion on adaptive academic leadership. The second day continued with sessions featuring three speakers: Prof. Dr. Mohammad Suyanto, M.M. (Rector and Founder of Universitas AMIKOM Yogyakarta); Prof. Ir. Nizam (Former Acting Director General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology), who discussed talent management and human resource strengthening; and Prof. Ir. Dwikorita Karnawati, M.Sc., Ph.D. (Rector of UGM, 2014–2017).

Unud’s contribution was also evident in the “Future Leaders” class, where Unud Professor Prof. Dr. Ir. Dewa Ngurah Suprapta, M.Sc., served as a speaker, leading an interactive discussion on building an ecosystem for top-tier talent and fostering a learning organization.

In her closing remarks, the Director of Human Resources at the Directorate General of Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Ir. Sri Suning Kusumawardani, conveyed a vital message to all participants.

“For higher education leaders, HR management transformation is not merely a program for faculty or staff development; it is a strategy for the transformation of the institution itself. Therefore, investing in talent, leadership, competence, and a culture of learning must be an integral part of the university’s strategy to create an institution that is excellent, adaptive, and impactful,” she emphasized.
