JIMBARAN — The selection of Udayana University (Unud) as a destination for a library research visit by a team of Polish academics serves as tangible proof that the Unud Library is gaining recognition in the international research arena. The arrival of three visiting researchers from the Faculty of Law at the University of Białystok on Monday (September 28, 2026) reinforces Unud’s role as a center for study and a provider of inclusive, open literature resources ready to support the global research climate.

This academic visit by Dr. Karolina Zapolska, Dr. Katarzyna Sakowska, and Prof. Dr. Hab. Wioletta Witoszko focused on analyzing library management practices regarding the facilitation of external research, while also examining Unud’s collections on labor law and human resources (HR).

The Head of the Unud Library, Gede Arda, S.TP., M.Sc., Ph.D., emphasized that this research engagement directly strengthens the library’s role as a facilitator of international-scale academic activities.

“As a hub for learning resources and literature, the Unud Library is committed to facilitating all academic activities, whether for the internal academic community or external parties,” he stated.

The positive impact of this research visit also validates the reliability of Unud’s technological infrastructure. Through the digital library system integrated into Unud’s IMISSU platform, the library is able to manage and track research access in an organized manner for both internal users and overseas researchers.

The visiting foreign researchers were granted full “Guest Access,” allowing them to explore physical collections, repositories, and digital journals on-site with staff assistance. This governance framework demonstrates Unud’s ability to provide research service standards that are safe and monitored, yet remain open to global academics.

“Foreign researchers can access both physical and digital library collections under staff supervision,” the speaker added.

This research engagement has also served to clarify and refine the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for international researcher visits at Unud. Through a systematic process—ranging from the submission of a research outline, obtaining Rectorate approval, and librarian assistance to the issuance of a Certificate of Completeness—Unud demonstrates transparent and accountable academic administrative governance.

Although this visit was an independent mini-project that did not lead to a long-term institutional partnership (such as an MoU), successfully facilitating the researcher from the University of Białystok has had a strategic impact. Unud has cultivated a positive image among European researchers, establishing itself as an Indonesian higher education institution that is research-friendly, professional, and possesses a compelling collection of literature.
