Denpasar – Udayana University, through its Student Affairs Bureau, continues to refine student preparations for PIMNAS (National Student Scientific Week). This involves providing mentorship for Student Creativity Program (PKM) teams that secured funding as they head toward the Program Implementation Progress Assessment (PKP2) in 2026. The university invited Prof. Andi Dian Permana, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D., Apt., from Hasanuddin University to serve as the resource person. The mentoring session took place in the Senate Room of the Agrocomplex Building at the Sudirman Campus, Denpasar, on Sunday (August 30, 2026).
The Head of the Reasoning and Creativity Unit, Dr. Ir. Wayan Nata Septiadi, ST, MT, noted that five teams had secured funding and expressed hope that they would optimize their preparations under the expert’s guidance. The resource person brings extensive experience, having previously mentored 10 teams simultaneously—all of which won medals.
“Hopefully, with his presence to provide input and dissect the students’ shortcomings, we can optimize our efforts. This way, we can make a comeback this year and no longer merely be spectators at PIMNAS,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Acting Head of the Student Affairs Bureau, Dr. Drs. I Wayan Santiyasa, M.Si., urged the successful teams to prepare seriously and to honor the trust placed in them by Belmawa (Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs) through the funding by executing their projects to the highest standard. He further emphasized that the scientific context is paramount; the proposed data and methodology must be clearly defined, as scientific work cannot exist without data and methodology.
“Our hope for this year is that, beyond passing the PKP stage and qualifying for PIMNAS, there will be teams that take the stage to receive awards—achievements we can bring back to Udayana,” he stated.
He also expressed hope that the presence of the resource person would ignite the teams’ enthusiasm. Furthermore, a strategy has been prepared to conduct a review following the mentoring process and to act upon the results, with the ultimate goal of flying the Udayana University flag at PIMNAS.
During the session, speaker Prof. Andi Dian Permana explained that the mentoring would not focus solely on the project’s substance but also on the potential of individual team members, given the objective of reaching PIMNAS. The university intends to move forward with committed teams, replacing or removing members who lack dedication—provided the minimum team size requirements are met.
Through intensive mentoring and continuous evaluation, Udayana University aims for the five teams that secured PKM funding for 2026 to demonstrate optimal progress during the PKP2 stage. Beyond merely qualifying, these teams are expected to advance toward PIMNAS and achieve success that brings pride to Udayana University.
