Jimbaran – Udayana University, through Udayana University Hospital (RS Unud), is providing free healthcare services to the public via a health-focused social service initiative in commemoration of the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia. Carrying the theme “Nusantara Spirit 81: Strong Body, Healthy Mind – RS Unud Serves the Nation,” this event serves as a tangible manifestation of Unud’s commitment to delivering the benefits of higher education directly to the community.

The event is a collaboration between RS Unud and various medical specialist study programs within the Udayana University Faculty of Medicine (FK Unud). A wide range of services is being offered free of charge, including general health check-ups and screenings for heart, eye, skin and hair, and hearing health, as well as nutritional status assessments and early detection of cervical cancer. Beyond medical services, the public is also receiving education on bone and joint health, child nutrition, mental health, cognitive function in the elderly, and the management of lower back pain.

RS Unud is also hosting a blood drive, distributing reading glasses to registrants, and conducting Basic Life Support (BLS) training for *pecalang* (traditional Balinese community security officers) and tourism sector workers, such as hotel and restaurant staff. This series of services is designed to support health promotion and prevention efforts while raising public awareness regarding the importance of early detection and healthy living habits.

The President Director of RS Unud Jimbaran, Prof. Dr. dr. Anak Agung Wiradewi Lestari, S.Ked, Sp.PK(K), stated that this social service activity represents a form of implementing the “Tridharma” (Three Pillars) of Higher Education—specifically, community service. Through this event, it is hoped that the competencies and resources possessed by Unud and RS Unud can be directly experienced by the community.

“This is a form of our dedication and service to the community. We hope this event runs smoothly and proves beneficial. We also hope that the resources and capabilities we possess at Unud and RS Unud become known to the public and that the benefits are directly felt by the entire community,” she said. Meanwhile, the Rector of Udayana University, Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, S.T., Ph.D., emphasized his support for strengthening the role of Unud Hospital as a vital component of the health-related higher education ecosystem. According to him, Unud Hospital serves not only as a medical care facility but also as a venue for education, research, and community service.

“This event sends a strong message to the public that Unud Hospital is active, operating excellently, and ready to serve,” the Rector asserted.

Prof. Sudarsana added that Udayana University is committed to fostering the continued growth of Unud Hospital as a robust teaching hospital supported by high-quality medical personnel. Collaboration among the hospital, the faculty, the academic community, and various segments of society serves as a crucial asset in expanding the impact of Unud’s presence within the community.

Through this social service initiative, Udayana University is not merely commemorating the spirit of independence but also translating the spirit of service into tangible actions that directly benefit the public. The provision of healthcare services and preventive education is expected to improve health outcomes while reinforcing Unud’s contribution to building a healthy and sustainable community.
