Denpasar – The 2026 Agriculture Expo (AGXPO) of the Faculty of Agriculture, Udayana University, was officially opened by the Vice Rector for Student Affairs, representing the Rector of Udayana University. Themed “AGXPO: Harvesting Innovation, Showcasing Potential,” this event serves as a platform to introduce innovation, technology, and the potential of the agricultural sector to university and high school students throughout Bali.
In his remarks, the Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Gusti Ngurah Alit Susanta Wirya, S.P., M.Agr., expressed his appreciation to all parties who contributed to the success of AGXPO 2026, including the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, lecturers, crop contest judges, industry partners, agricultural practitioners, the organizing committee, and the attendees.
With the theme “AGXPO: Harvesting Innovation, Showcasing Potential,” AGXPO 2026 is expected to be a concrete step in addressing the future challenges of the agricultural sector, particularly in Bali. According to him, the theme reflects two major commitments: harvesting innovation through the application of modern technology and creativity in agriculture, and showcasing the enormous potential of the agricultural sector and the younger generation as driving forces for sustainable agricultural development.
“Agriculture today is no longer synonymous with conventional methods. Innovation, technology, and creativity must be part of the transformation of agriculture towards a sustainable food system,” he said.
AGXPO 2026 features a series of educational and interactive activities, including plant exhibitions, ornamental plant contests, educational sessions with academics and practitioners, and a mini-concert that provides a unique atmosphere for introducing the world of agriculture to the younger generation.
Through these activities, participants are encouraged to see that agriculture is a modern, innovative sector with significant potential for development. The presence of high school students from various regions in Bali is also crucial in fostering interest in agriculture among the younger generation.
On that occasion, the Vice Rector for Student Affairs encouraged students not to view agriculture as an outdated sector, but rather as a strategic field that requires creative human resources, adaptable to technology, and capable of generating various innovations.
Meanwhile, he advised the students to use AGXPO 2026 as an innovation incubation space and a bridge for collaboration between academia, society, and industry, so that the various ideas generated on campus can provide tangible benefits for the development of the agricultural sector.
