Jimbaran – Udayana University officially opened Udayana University’s Gemini Academy 2026, Thursday (16/7/2026), which was held online via Google Meet. This activity is a collaboration between Udayana University and Google for Education as an effort to strengthen the competence of the academic community in using artificial intelligence (AI) technology to support learning, research, community service and higher education governance.
This program is organized by BAKH Udayana University together with the Information Resources Unit (USDI) and the AI Center of Udayana University. Gemini Academy is part of Udayana University’s commitment to accelerating digital transformation through the responsible and ethical use of AI technology.
In his report, Head of Data and Networks at USDI Udayana University, Ir. Komang Oka Saputra, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., said that the implementation of AI at Udayana University is supported by Google Workspace for Education Plus which has been used since 2022. Through this platform, academics can utilize various AI-based technologies, including Gemini AI and NotebookLM, to increase the effectiveness of the teaching and learning process and administration.
The activity was officially opened by the Chancellor of Udayana University, Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, S.T., Ph.D. In his speech, the Chancellor emphasized that mastering AI technology is now an important requirement for universities in facing the increasingly dynamic development of the world of education.
“The development of AI has changed the way we obtain information, process data, produce knowledge, and make decisions. Udayana University views mastery of AI technology as not just an additional skill, but a competency that must be possessed by all academics. Students need it to strengthen the learning process, lecturers to support the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, and educational staff to increase the effectiveness of institutional governance,” said the Chancellor.
The Chancellor also reminded that the use of AI must remain based on the values of integrity, academic ethics and responsibility in its use so that it can provide optimal benefits for the world of education.
Udayana University’s Gemini Academy 2026 will be implemented in stages from July to December 2026 through four training sessions grouped by faculty cluster and work unit. This program targets three groups of participants, namely lecturers, education staff and students. Training for lecturers and education staff is scheduled every Thursday, while student training is held every Friday.
In the first session, participants came from the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Faculty of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, as well as the Pharmacy Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences.
Apart from receiving material directly from the Google for Education facilitator, participants also had the opportunity to take part in the Gemini AI certification program, participate in the Weekly Challenge and Monthly Challenge with various appreciations, and get the opportunity to become a Gemini Academy Master Trainer for students and a Gemini Academy Fellow/Faculty Ambassador for lecturers and education staff.
Through the implementation of Gemini Academy 2026, Udayana University hopes that human resources will be born that are adaptive to developments in digital technology and are able to become agents of transformation in the faculty and work unit environment. This program also strengthens Udayana University’s commitment to presenting learning innovations and higher education governance that are relevant to technological developments in the era of artificial intelligence.
