Jimbaran – Udayana University (Unud) and Nanchang University, China, officially signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) regarding the development of international education programs during a visit by a Nanchang University delegation to the Unud Rectorate, Jimbaran Campus, on Monday (June 8, 2026). This signing marks a strategic step in strengthening collaboration between the two institutions, particularly through the implementation of the Joint Master’s Degree Program in International Tourism Management and the Offshore Cooperative Education Program.
The Nanchang University delegation was led by Vice President of Nanchang University, Prof. Wang Li, accompanied by Huang Xiaohong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the College of International Education, and Hu Yizhou, Head of the Confucius Institute Office Section. Also present from Udayana University were Rector Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, S.T., Ph.D.; Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, and Information Prof. Made Sucipta; Dean of the Faculty of Tourism Dr. The event was attended by Prof. I Wayan Suardana, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. I Nyoman Budiarsa, Head of the Office of International Affairs, Senja Pratiwi, Ph.D., Director of the Tourism Confucius Institute (TCI) Indonesia and China, Dr. UPIKS, and staff from the Cooperation and Public Relations Department of Udayana University.

In his remarks, the Rector of Udayana University expressed his appreciation for the visit by the Nanchang University delegation, which has been a strategic partner of Unud in various international cooperation programs. He stated that the relationship between the two institutions continues to grow through collaboration in language education, cultural exchanges, and various activities carried out through the Tourism Confucius Institute (TCI).
“This meeting is an important step in strengthening academic cooperation, cultural exchange, and the internationalization of both universities. We also welcome the implementation of the Joint Master’s Degree Program in International Tourism Management and the signing of the Offshore Cooperative Education Program Agreement,” said the Rector.
On the occasion, the Vice President of Nanchang University, Prof. Wang Li stated that the relationship between the two universities began in 2017 with the establishment of the Tourism Chinese Training Center, which later evolved into the Tourism Confucius Institute in 2019. This collaboration has become an important bridge in strengthening cultural exchanges and people-to-people ties between Indonesia and China.
Nanchang University also appreciates the contribution of the Faculty of Tourism, Udayana University, to the development of the Tourism Confucius Institute. Furthermore, the two universities have expanded their collaboration through the renewal of the partnership in 2024 and the development of a joint educational program in 2025, which serves as the foundation for strengthening academic ties between the two institutions.
As a university located in Bali, one of the world’s leading tourist destinations, Udayana University views international collaboration as a strategic step in preparing human resources with a global perspective, cross-cultural competence, and the ability to generate innovation for sustainable tourism development. Through this collaboration with Nanchang University, various international opportunities for students, lecturers, and researchers are expected to expand, both in the form of academic mobility and collaborative research.
This visit also coincided with the inauguration of the Bali–China Cultural Center at Udayana University, which is expected to bridge the communities, cultures, and academic communities of both countries. The presence of this cultural center is believed to further strengthen bilateral relations between Indonesia and China through education, culture, tourism, technology, and economic development.
During the discussions, both parties explored opportunities for developing cooperation in higher education, particularly in the tourism and civil engineering sectors, as well as joint degree programs. Nanchang University also expressed its commitment to expanding student exchanges, academic visits, and joint research through various collaborative schemes that benefit both institutions.
Through the signing of this MoA, Udayana University and Nanchang University affirmed their shared commitment to delivering impactful collaborative programs for the development of higher education, strengthening Indonesia-China relations, and enhancing the capacity of globally competitive human resources, in line with the spirit of internationalization and the Impactful Campus initiative.
