THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE AND PERCEPTION OF PERFORMANCE FEMALE EMPLOYEE WHEN PREMENSTRUAL PERIOD AT GARMENT COMPANY IN BALI

Almost all of work task at garment industry is done by human. Most employee at garment industry are female, but their characteristics and needs are different compared to male employee. Each month female employee are routinely face with the menstrual cycle. One menstrual cycle have three periods, that is premenstrual, menstrual, and postmenstrual. In premenstrual period, generally female experiencing changes in both physically and psychologically due to hormonal unbalance and psychological factors. That causes an uncomfortable condition. If this condition is not handled properly, it will interfere with daily activity which one will decline the perception of performance. The decline in perception of performance will impact to the declining of the performance it self. In order to cope with declining of the employee performance which caused by premenstrual state, one of the ways is by increasing the emotional intelligence in self-female employee. This research aims to determine whether there is a relationship between emotional intelligence and perception of performance female employee when premenstrual period at garment company. This research is a quantitative method with simple regression analysis. Data is collected through research scales that have been tested for validity and reliability to the 127 female employees at garment company in Province of Bali, Indonesia. Research data shows normal distribution and linear. The result shows the correlation coefficient is 0.703 and probability at 0.000 (p<0.05). It means that there is a significant correlation between emotional intelligence and perception of performance female employee when premenstrual period at garment company. Contribution of emotional intelligence variable to perception of performance variable is 49.5%.
