I Nyoman Darma Putra is a Professor at the Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University, Bali. He is currently the head of the Doctoral Program in Cultural Studies at Udayana University. Darma completed his undergraduate education at Udayana University (1985), his master’s degree at the University of Sydney (1994), and his PhD at the University of Queensland (2003). He has served as a visiting professor in England, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Japan, and Australia. In 2018, he participated in a teaching mobility program at the University of Glasgow, England, funded by Erasmus. Darma has published several books, two of which are “A Literary Mirror: Balinese Reflections on Modernity and Identity in the Twentieth Century (Leiden KITLV/Brill, 2011)” and “Tourism, Development and Terrorism in Bali (2007) co-authored with Michael Hitchcock; initially published by Ashgate and later reissued by Routledge (2018)”. Since 2010, Darma Putra has been the editor-in-chief of the Jurnal Kajian Bali (Journal of Bali Studies), which has been indexed in Scopus since December 2023. His research interests focus on literature, culture, and tourism.
