Udayana University Collaborates with the Directorate General of Animal Husbandry and Animal Health, Ministry of Agriculture

Udayana University collaborates with the Directorate General of Animal Husbandry and Animal Health, Ministry of Agriculture, which was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by both parties at Swiss Bell Hotel Tuban, Bali, Tuesday (28/7/2020).

The MoU signing ceremony was attended by the Director General of Animal Husbandry and Animal Health Dr. Drh. I Ketut Diarmita, M.P. On this occasion the Udayana University Rector was represented by the Deputy Chancellor for Planning, Cooperation and Information Prof. Dr. Ida Bagus Wyasa Putra, SH., M.Hum. Also attending this activity were the Dean of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry and the Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Udayana University as well as the Head of the Center for Veterinarians, Head of the Department of Agriculture and Food Plants and Head of the Ngurah Rai Quarantine Station.

The cooperation between the two parties will be focused on developing human resources, science and technology as well as accelerating the implementation of development programs in the field of animal husbandry and animal health.

Director General of Animal Husbandry and Animal Health I Ketut Diarmita in his direction conveyed that in order to meet the need for animal protein, attention is needed. In Bali itself, there are Balinese cattle germplasm that must be protected and preserved, then the need for meat consumption to support tourism and this becomes an opportunity for the community. If this treatment is done conventionally and breakthroughs are not made, it will be left behind.

The support from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and the Faculty of Animal Husbandry at Udayana University is very much needed to play an active role and cooperate with related agencies because it has great potential to produce superior livestock. The Director General is ready to support the research needs that can be carried out by the University through the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and the Faculty of Animal Husbandry. This cooperation should be followed up with concrete efforts that can be made. It is hoped that the synergy between the Directorate General and the University will run smoothly. The Director General also appreciates the collaboration and hopes that the efforts made can make a real contribution to increasing animal protein for the people and society in Indonesia.

While the Vice Chancellor Prof. IB Wyasa Putra on this occasion said that the signing was delayed due to the existing situation and conditions. Furthermore, the Vice Chancellor conveyed three basic patterns of thought and it is an obligation for universities to realize educational goals, namely the Tridharma of Higher Education. Through Tridharma, Udayana University wants to present the best performance and achievements for the people of the nation and state. Of course, this achievement cannot be done alone, but it needs to work together with government and non-government institutions both at home and abroad.

Cooperation within the scope of the PKH Director General in Bali has been established informally. Many things have been done together, such as research, education and community service. Many human resources in the PKH environment study at Udayana University, as well as research. Several studies have been produced thanks to the collaboration between HR at Udayana University and HR in the PKH scope. Recently, animal husbandry and animal health have played a very important strategic role in nation building. The increasing demand for animal protein requires an increase in livestock productivity. Likewise, the existence of various animal diseases that affect the quality and quantity of animal protein requires a solution that deserves good handling. These animal diseases not only impact animal health, but also cause health problems in humans.

The Vice Chancellor welcomed the memorandum of understanding between Udayana University and the Directorate General of Animal Husbandry and Animal Health, so that it is beneficial for both parties in improving human resources, science and technology, and accelerating the implementation of the development program in the field of animal husbandry and animal health.
