'HAVE A CULTURAL DEPARTMENT', UNUD AND BODO WRITER'S HELD INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR CUM LITERARY FESTIVAL AND CULTURAL EXCHANGE

Denpasar - Udayana University in collaboration with Bodo Writers' Academy India held "International Seminar cum Literary Festival and Cultural Exchange", Saturday (6/1/2018) at Auditorium Widya Sabha Mandala Prof. Dr. Ida Bagus Mantra Faculty of Cultural Sciences Unud, Denpasar.

The seminar presented resource persons including Prof. Dr. I Wayan Ardika, MA with topic "The beginning of Indian contact with Bali", Prof. Dr. Ir. Dewa Ngurah Suprapta, M.Sc with topic "The Linkage of Agriculture and the Culture of Bali", Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Darma Putra, M.Litt with topic "The Role of Women Enterpreneurs in Promoting Balinese Culinary and Supporting Sustainable Tourism", Dr. Luke Daimary with the topic "Bodo History, Languages, Literature and Culture", Mr. Santa Lal Meche with the topic "Rite of Passage in Meche Culture" and Mr. Nabin Malla Boro with the topic "Social, Domestic life of Bodos".

Dean of FIB Unud, Prof. Dr. Ni Luh Sutjiati Beratha, MA conveyed Bodo Writers' Academy is the oldest community of Languages ​​in North India whose people have a culture that is almost similar to the culture in Bali, especially in the fields of culture, agriculture and culinary. The Dean hopes that this seminar will bring new researches for Udayana University lecturers to conduct research especially in the field of culture.

The seminar was opened by Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation and Information of Udayana University, Prof. Dr. Ida Bagus Wyasa Putra, SH., M.Hum. In his speech delivered that there are four reasons for the seminar with Bodo Writer's Academy implemented, (1) the roots of Balinese culture originated from India and China, and India contributed greatly to the development of Balinese culture; (2) understanding the roots of culture is very important to make people understand more about the culture itself; (3) make policy on culture, because to understand and position good culture must be supported by good policy; and (4) the impact of globalization on culture. The Vice Rector hopes that the seminar can produce a formulation of ideas about the correlation between Indian culture and cultural position as the root of Balinese culture that plays an important role in the development and development of Balinese culture.
