Lembata District Government, NTT Extended Memorandum of Understanding with Unud

Denpasar (18/05/2017) - Udayana University collaborated in the field of medicine with Lembata district of East Nusa Tenggara. The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding was held at the Meeting Room of the Dean of the Medical Faculty of Sudirman Campus in Denpasar and that was an extension of the Memorandum of Understanding for the third time since it was first signed three years ago. In this opportunity present Rector of Unud, Bupati Lembata, Chairman of Lembata Regency DPRD, Director of Lewoleba Hospital and Vice Dean III Faculty of Medicine Unud.

Rector of Unud, Prof. Dr. Dr. Ketut Suastika, Sp.PD-KEMD in his speech delivered the MoU between Kapukaten Lembata and Unud which gave very important meaning for both parties especially health or medicine. Unud as an educational institution that produces experts like doctors and feel proud of this cooperation because the graduates can be utilized. Unud has also established cooperation with several districts in NTT and NTB in the field of medicine. This was one form of responsibility of Unud in the field of devotion, especially in the eastern region in improving health services. Almost the majority of Unud graduates have been carrying out devotion in eastern areas such as NTT. NTT is also one of the areas where the graduates perform their duties in realizing Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi. Rector of Unud hopes that this cooperation can be realized in improving the quality of education for Udayana University and for the development of local public health quality for Lembata Regency. The Rector also gave appreciation to the Faculty of Medicine for its participation in developing health in the eastern region.

Bupati Lembata, Drs. Sinun Petrus Manuk conveyed the cooperation between Unud and Kabupaten Lembata has been running well. On the way there were some shortcomings that have been gradually improved. Furthermore the Regent of Lembata said that in Lembata in hospital health field, it is still difficult to get specialist doctors especially anesthesia. The type of Hospital that still D is also one of the problems due to the condition of local finance. Through this cooperation the Bupati hopes to get help from the Unud party in tackling the problems that occur. In the same occasion, Chairman of Lembata DPRD, Ferdinandus Koda also expressed his appreciation for the assistance given by the university, especially the Faculty of Medicine for its contribution in the health sector in Lembata regency. (PR)
